Adobe After effects is a visual effects and motion graphics software used widely within the design Industry. I will be testing and playing about with animation using this particular software. I will be creating a few art pieces and testing motion using my basic animation skills.
I have been working on a game concept with a client recently, this is one of the ideas that didn’t make it, but I decided to use this for learning purposed and try better my animation skills. The game concept involved a young man amongst a post-apocalyptic landscape. I wanted to play about with simplistic water movement using sine, I will also animate rainfall and create a sky transition.
My first step in the animation was to create the character and landscape, so I create these elements using illustrator. I wanted the character to have a simplistic look, but also have quite a dark style. I took inspiration from the games Limbo and Coma. I love the style of these games, as they have a lonely, creepy atmosphere, which I think can be very effective. I usually draw up my concepts using pen and paper to photoshop and graphics tablet, the picture below is my orginal concept sketch
Below is the final animation, I have added a day and night transition, to give a feel of passing time and lonelyness.
